Default '94 Dodge Dakota Fuel Filter

I have a '94 Dodge Dakota V8 5 spd. I know they are usually on the driver side, but I do not see it. Is the a possibility that it is in the tank?

My 93 has it on the left frame rail but also has a sock filter on the pump in the tank.

Yeah in 94 they went to returnless style fuel system. 93 had return style with the fuel filter bracket bolted to the top of the frame rail with the filter itself hanging just to the inside of the rail. I wasn't aware that the filter changed to inside the tank but from looking at RockAuto parts it seems that is the case.

My 94 v6 has the fuel filter at the bottom of teh pump/sending unit which is in the tank. Its a pain. Unless you have a lift or lots of money (the dealer way is to pump then drop the tank) taking the bed off is the best way to get at it there are videos on YT of it. The bed is attached with 8 bolts if I remember correctly. Make sure you pay attention to the spare tire lowering mechanism at the rear before lifting the bed.

Eight bolts to fasten the bed to the frame, plus one more to attach the grounding wires to the cab - I had to remove 9 of them.

My 1990 has the return system.
It has the frame mounted filter, AND a teabag filter on the inlet of the fuel pump, inside the tank.
