2 Inch Lift
#12
Yeah i read through one of them. It did help. it gives me a "junior rookie" a good look at the work I'll be doing. I also found the torsion bars bolts and have taken a good look at the shackles setup. I have one quick question for you. This is something i thought while i was reading.
It never mentions "clearly" that you need to jack up the rear end of the truck when taking out the rear shackles. Do i have to lift up the back end when removing the shackles? or is it ok still on the ground? i would think it needs to be lifted or the weight would drop?

You must raise the truck by lifting from the frame to take the load off!
Once the load is off then the tire will come off the ground. Simply lower JUST enough to alow the rear wheel to touch the ground. Then go at it. You MUST releive the pressure off the suspendion. The rear bumper of the truck will be high in the air with the wheels just bearly touching.

I see so don't lift it off the ground but get the jack in there and crank it up high but not letting the tire leave the ground. Alright man. Also with a 2 inch lift what do you think is the biggest tire i can get in there without rub? maybe a 32x10.5? I was hoping for a wider tire though like a 32x11.5 maybe even a 31x11.5 if it doesn't start to look small with the lift.

i was just at a big 4x4 place called "hooze 4x4" and they told me that they don't make rear shackles to lift durango's because durango's don't ride well lifted. They said that's why you never see lifted durango's. I was hoping to buy shackles from them but they don't carry them. Any ideas on what i can do guys? obviously just cranking the torsion bars wont do much anything for me. I really would like to get larger tires on my durango! 32x11.5!!

I just found some shackles for 37 bucks! they're more universal and will fit. I brought them down to "hooze 4x4" and they said they will fit. So i got some shackles now need to install them. Also if i do crank the torsion bar up 2 inches how stiff will the ride get? also can the front tires be properly aligned after ward's?

ok well you need to STOP going to hooze 4x4, they are clearly idiots if they wont carry parts to lift a truck bc 'lifting it makes it ride poorly', that is true of ANY vehicle, not just durangos, and btw there are ALOT of lifted durangos around here, dont know why you wouldnt have any around you, but find a new off-road/4x4 shop bc this one is too sketchy/full of idiots

yeah I'm done at hooze, they might be specialists but i have seen enough durango's lifted. on video's in person and by word of mouth. I got the shackles but another thing i noticed is on the drivers side the hitch is some what in the way of the bolt. on the upper part of the stock shackle. Any thoughts on that?

yeah i might have to. I'm hoping i wont have to but that might be the case. Well i guess i'll have to see. Also after i get my alignment and my wheels are aligned the alignment will last right? i mean they stay pretty aligned now you don't think they will fall out of alignment easier after the lift do you?
