I'm so mad, I just bought a 2001 Durango from a dealer and 2 days after I brought it home the check engine light came on... All the monitors weren't reset so someone cleared the codes.... and they are pretty much saying all sales are final.... anyway, I'm getting the code P1740... can anyone tell me what the best and worst case scenarios are? also, what I might expect to pay for both scenarios? From my understanding, it has something to do with the transmission, but i'm not noticing any problems.... If the light wasn't on, i'd think everything was fine... the trans isn't slipping at all, shifts good.... got it up to 80 with 2,250 rpms, and going through the gears, rpms never went above 2,500...

 

which transmission are we looking at? (the engine in the truck will tell us which trans we are looking at) also which driveline?(2wd or 4wd??)

although it sounds to me like you have a bad OD solenoid, user Master Tech will have a much better answer for you, he is the local transmission expert.
