only if its a high milage tranny that has never been serviced before.. i have mine flushed every 20K - 25K miles. plus new filter and fluid of course

find a place that does the flush where they hook it up to a tub of clean fluid and then just let the tranny pump in the new and out the old untill its clean its the best way to do it there is a place by my house that does it that way i'm not sure exactly what its called though and your tranny is at least a little better and more reliable than the ones behind the 3.9, 5.2 and 5.9

I agree with all the advice you have been given. Also make sure if your truck has a spin on return filter that they change that one as well. These tranny's are made to shift soft (by slipping into gear instead of hard shifting like normal tranny's), so I am putting a TransGo shift kit in mine. Seriously stick with the stuff Mopar calls for it is expensive, but if these things are taken care of and changed at regular intervals they are pretty bullet proof. The fluid is kinda like the oil in a motorcycle with a wet-clutch, you can't just use any 'ol type because it will mess with the friction plates. My tranny mechanic said if done right he barely ever see's one go out (these tranny's are also used in some RV's, at least that's what he said). I have 152000 on mine and runs strong as ever.

you can flush it yourself pretty easy
put the truck in neutral pull the line off coming from the tranny, (by the rad.) You can run the tranny just about dry this way. just keep toping the tranny up to keep it from running dry, and you will know when it starts to get close to the end it slows down a bunch. run about 12-15 litres through the tranny
