1994 ram 2500 diesel w/automatic
how do I know what transmission I have, 47 RH or 47 RE? the vin is 1B7KF26C5RS703583 I would like to replace it but not sure how to know which one it is, also I need to replace the transfer case which says NP 241 DLD, is there only certain years that will be the same?

Yours is an RH. 4.10 gears too. (build sheet is a wonderful thing.)
As for the t-case, any NP241 DLD out of a ram thru model year 97 will work. The manual trans t-cases had a deeper input hub.... you may or may not need to change that to hang it off the back of your auto.
Welcome to DF!

You are welcome. I find your reasoning to be quite sound. You are going to be RIGHT THERE anyway. Might just as well deal with it.

transmission only
I'm trying to identify what transmission I have as it was in a storage shed and I got a story but want to identify what vehicles it will fit so I can sell it. this is the case # PK 52119851 AB 2770 1867
From what I have read it is a 47RE but I need to know what vehicles it will fit in? Diesel 2500>?
thanks
