O2 sensor, how many?

Default O2 sensor, how many?

1997 dodge ram 2500
360 cid 4x4

am told that there are 3 O2 sensors, i only find one, and its attached to the cat conv. inlet tube...

is this correct?

having bad gas milage...

if the exhaust is stock, 97 should have two unless california emissions. One right before the cat, and one after the cat.

Wrong. My 97 Cali emissions only has 1 pre and 1 post O2 sensor. 98 was when they started to add more O2 sensors for Cali trucks

so having one O2 sensor in the cat is ok? there are two types of O2s one with a 12" pigtail and an 18", which one do i use?

Yes it's okay. Take out the O2 sensor that your replacing and measure it to find out which one you need. When in doubt, buy the 18".

take it out, bring it to the shop and get an exact one.

My Cali 2001 has 4 O2 sensors. 2 pre and 2 post cat for each side.

Technically, I have 5 O2 sensors....I have a Wideband AF gauge
