If my two cents is anything I swapped my 5.2 to a 5.9 as well but I did a total rebuild on the 5.9. I just got custom tunes from Sean for the pcm. Only thing I changed from motors is the flex plate, however i kept the 5.2 injectors instead of the 5.9..not sure if that was a bad choice or not. Everything else works great.

I'm subscribing. Interested in seeing what he does to the motor.

See now with the transmission I'm a bit worried, I just had it serviced, new filter, fluid, and asked to hand the bands adjusted but was told all is in good order!! But I did read a forum somewhere telling about a I believe the name is a "Level 10" something or other bulletproof kit for around $500, that doesn't sound too bad to be, considering the transmission will be bulletproof, still have to do more research on such, but does catch my interest.

I'm looking into nothing but longtubes! I really want the best of the scavengging effect. Now when you say they rub the front driveshaft a bit, how much is a bit? What headers you running? I haven't heard of anyone else having clearance issues, but again, haven't done much investigation on the subject.
That'll be a beast of a Dakota!

I'm going to send another E-mail to Sean to try and clarify things, I don't think he understood what I meant too much, but I also expected him to have people coming to him about this in the prior.
I was thinking of running 24lb injectors, don't know much of the advantages or disadvantages but heard good for power!!

Thanks for the subscirbe!

I think PATC (or however they spell it) also sells all the internal parts as a kit that they stuff into their mega-viper transmission. Several members have the trans, and so far as I know, they have ALL been happy with it.

This flexplate (Amazon.com: B&M 10236 SFI Approved Performance Flexplate: Automotive) will not work with this swap, as you need a flexplate that works with the crank positioning sensor that's bolted onto the back of the block. Find a factory 5.9 magnum flexplate and you will be fine.

I had a feeling that was not the right one, but never heard any otherwise, good thing I didn't make the purchase. With looking online, and not having the best of luck, I'm starting to think this might be a junk yard part here.

I've got a spare 5.9 flexplate from a 1997 RAM. PM me if interested.

Dean,
Why are you worried about your transmission? You say you just had it serviced and everything looked good? If that is the case then you don't need another tranny. Now if you're having issues with your old tranny then yes you should replace it when you do the engine swap or rebuild it. There is a PATC MEGA Viper tranny in the classified section for sale for cheaper than you can get it from PATC.

You might be better off call Sean and explaining what you want/need instead of trying to swap emails so that you can explain better what it is you're trying to do.
Good luck and enjoy yourself.

Well I'm only worried about the tranny because as soon as I start doing work to the 5.9 motor I don't think that will increase the longevity of the transmission at all.

I think thats what I'm going to wind up doing, giving sean a call.
