Some guys are better tuning with SCT than others, and a 408 with a mild cam like a 236/242 isn't a problem.

I'm not looking for high revving, massive competition HP, or stump pulling torque... just more responsive to the peddle change across the board.
A 408 would be nice, but it may be more than needed for my application.

There are kits for carbs to help make them work better when used at an off angle or pounding waves going across the lake. I can field repair a carb out in the backwoods lets see you diag a efi system and repair it out back (without carrying a **** load of parts). I can tune a carb with basic tools can't say the same for efi. There disadvantage and advantages to both.

still thinking...
It's not that I don't have the know how or the ability to do this. I have done it once before with a 93 Chevy pickup. There are small things I don't know yet. Like what size radiator should I run, what length will the drive shafts need to be, can I adapt the transfer case in it now to the older trans or would it be better to get the new adapter bellhousing for the newer trans? those kind of questions..lol

you gotta use the 727, it will grenade a 46/47. i was going to do this same thing to my ramcharger once. swap in the engine/trans and run all new fuel cell and lines. not sure on the radiator size i would just get a 440 one. the drive shafts length will just have to be done last. as far as the t-case you will prob have to run a 205.
