Default how to remove the steering column

Hey guys. Well my install of my rock hard ram steering fix turned out to be a rock hard PITA. Long story short, I think I need to remove the steering column to be able to see in the tube on why the bushing is hanging up. I think i'll need to file something down and I just can't visibly see up there they way it is.

SO, who here has removed their steering column? Was it tough? Do you have any how to's on this subject? I'm worried about the clock spring part mostly. Any tips would be nice. thanks guys!

Leave the ignition off, and make sure the steering locks. Then its just the shaft in the engine compartment, two bolts under the dash, and three or four on the floor where the column goes out. Not to mention the PRNDL cable (if you have an automatic) and a selection of wiring connectors..... Have a look with a good light. Should be fairly obvious.

I have always wondered how in the world the Rock solid part gets installed. I can't even see the shaft where this is supposed to go much less remove it! I wonder if its much more accessible on the cummins trucks. Oh well, I'm never doing this mod anyway. Heard too many bad reports. I'll be reading though to see how you fair with it.

Ok, doesn't sound too bad. With the steering locked, that won't allow the clock spring to move and I should just be able to slip the column out and slip it back in? Maybe I'll take the time to get pics and make a DIY on this. Now I just need the time to do this project.

It's actually pretty accessible and should be easy to install with the column in the truck. I was texting the rock solid guy with my problems and he said I'm a rare case of it not going in smoothly. He said 98% of the time it's easy as advertised, but I'm the unlucky 2% that needs to remove the column to see what the hang up is. Oh well. Good thing it's not daily driver.
