Default 99 3500 V10 Auto. Best Torque Converter?

Rig has 154,000 miles on it. Going to pull the trany for a rebuild (still working fine other then the high stall speed). Beefing it up a bit with a transgo diesel shift kit.

Just wondering what route others have gone with the torque converter. I know I want billet and low stall. I have found some reputable re builders with said units for around $500.00. Personally I don't see the need for the $1,000.00 and up units designed to stand up to bombed diesels.

thanks in advance,.

Hughes Converters are worth a look. Get the catalog number for your application directly from Hughes and shop a retailer. Amazon and SummitRacing generally have them, but for some reason they can be hard to look up. The case, hub and internals should be rock solid. Billet means $$$
Good luck, Mike
