Great write up and I concur that it is an easy install. Anyone have experience with the chr550? I love the features but when watching an aux video source such as iPod or other, there is interference and bleed in which I can see the backup camera feed. Additionally, the backup camera feed isn't bright or crisp like it is without the chr500 lockpick.
I put the CHR550 in my new D a few weeks ago and noticed the same thing. Netflix and other video from my iPhone seems ok, its not going to be super great quality streaming over 3g anyway but what I noticed is the poor quality video of the backup camera compared to the video before the lock pick install.
So my only two problems with the CHR550 right now are:
-Backup camera not very crisp/clear like it was when not being routed through the lock pick.
-When using the iPod Out selection, you get album art etc but you CAN'T skip forward to the next song, only play/pause. So I usually just use the iPod MNL option which lets me change songs...but then I lose the album art.
attempting this in the AM at my friend's shop tomorrow.. confused about the switch position? op says the position directions were wrong? anyone else have that problem?
This might seem like a bad question to be asking here, but I'm not very good with vehicles or accessories. What exactly does the lockpick do?I haven't been able to find anything on google that really explains this thing.
Just installed it. Can't thank the op enough, it was painless.... I also left the dip switches in the "highspeed" communication setting (against the directions advice of lowspeed) but looking at the directions it lists '08-'11 durango, so that's probably why they suggested the lowspeed setting?? Anyway it works great and unlike the op i just pushed the harness into the void behind the headunit and the lockpick back there as well, all fit, no tie straps (which i had on hand but if you use them good luck getting the radio back out, it's tight, you need the slack). Can't wait to go to florida in November now and be able to use my nav and wife be able to watch movies (and vice versa) it's a long...ride lol
today i noticed the "crappy" quality of the backup camera feed? out of the blue, it just looks like crap, black and white fuzzy almost. must be lockpick related?? going to call coastal technologies and see what they say, will report back.
