Dan, it would be helpful if you listed what year your truck is. Even though you have the 4.7 liter engine, they do make changes from year to year, mainly for emissions related stuff like O2 sensors. I have the factory manual for the 03 Ram that I use when I have problems or need to look something up. I have found that the Haynes/Chilton's manuals aren't very helpful in a lot of cases. By the way, Chilton is Haynes. Haynes owns Chilton.

The P0xxx codes are OBDII generic. They are the same for all vehicles even foreign.
I would get the sensor from the dealer. There is probably a way to get an equivalent sensor from Bosch or somebody, but it would be just about the same money.
One thing you can try is cleaning it.
When I put the first tuner in my truck I fouled the sensors bad due to a way overich mixture. I removed it, spayed it good with brake cleaner and wiped it off, put it back and its still in there for around almost 2 years.

Thanks guys! My truck is a 2002 Quadcab 4x4 with the 4.7.
My experience is that the haynes/Chilton manuals are of minimal value...actually, I gues they're fine for the simplest stuff. Just not much help if you get int oa more thorny problem.
Thanks for the heads up on the cleaning of the sensor. If it turns out to be relatively easy to remove, I'll go ahead and clean it, reinstall it and see what happens. Costs me nothing to do that. If it doesn't work out I can always go get the Dodge sensor.

Just an update. I went ahead and bought the Haynes manual for $17 at Pep Boys last night to see if there was anything in it that might be helpful. For the price, I'm fine with the info it provides.
I also bought a new coil to replace my #6 given the PO356 code as listed above. Per the manual, it ought to be fairly simple to replace once I pull the air cleaner assembly. I've never pulled the plugs on this truck before so is it easy to pull the coil assy out without damaging anything? If so, I'll go ahead and change the plugs too since its been awhile. On another thread someone mentioned using NGK Iridiums. Are these the accepted wisdom for these trucks as the best to use? Any advice on what you've used with success on the 4.7 is appreciated.
