Default Why is there an EGR valve on my 2003 RAM 1500 5.7L?

I recently got a used 2003 ram 1500 5.7L hemi. Runs fine, But just noticed today it has an EGR valve with no wire connector. Cheched a servive manual and the 03 5.7L does not have an EGR. Suspect the engine was replaced at some point (maybe with a 2004 the first year with an EGR on the hemi?), but again no wire connector to hook to it. Is it ok to run like this?

It is on the front of the passenger side head.
Sounds like you have a new engine. It will be fine to run it unplugged. It won't open without a signal from the PCM, so you'll be fine.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

Or better yet, go to the dealer and order the plugs/caps from a 2500 hemi truck (2500's don't have an EGR either). If your PCM does not turn the check engine light on because your PCM does not recognize it, why nt just remove it. I just ordered mine and I'm going to cap mine after I get a predator tune to turn it off. The parts were less than $20.

what would be the benefit to removing the EGR system and would a vehicle still pass emissions afterwards?
