Talking cheaper easy fix for DIY

Check out heatertreater.net for a video series that details all the various blend doors and troubleshooting. 3 vids, 6-7 mins each. Well worth the time!

I had a HeaterTreater installed by one of their affiliate garage shops and it has been great. Saved me money and hassle, and now I don't have to think about the temp every time I want to drive my truck!

Had the same piece of plastic in mine...its literally 3 torq screws to drop the blower motor, and you can reach up from the bottom and feel the broken (in my case completely loose) blend door. Edit..the broken blend door can be moved around and positioned by reaching up in there as well. Still as others not sure what the optimal placement is...

Watched a lot of youtube vids, seems like an extreme PIA to replace, not really worth it (tho I live in FL).

A replacement blower is like $70 online, $96 at local auto stores. So incredibly easy to replace its not even funny.

You shouldnt be paying thousands for this work...my .02

If I understand, OP is talking about the blend door. That is not accessible from the blower opening. That would be the Recircultion door, which can be easily replaced. The only way to replace the blend door is to remove the HVAC completely. Heater treater has a way to do it without removing the dash, but it requires chopping into the HVAC box, and if you have dual heat/ac controls, you will lose that capability. $1,100 sounds a bit high, but not out of the ball park.

Search around, there's a diy for this without pulling everything apart.
