Anyone know if the iPod cable works with the iPhone? My wife's car has a Bose system with an iPod connection, but it won't even recognize or charge our iPhones. Of course her car is a 2004, well before the iPhone was even out.
First thread on the forum. I see the part number for the iPod where do I get it from?
thanks...
It is a Mopar part so you can get it from your local Chrystler dealer or online. The correct one for the RER system is the part # listed in the second thread. The first part # I first listed is confirmed WRONG! My dealer insisted it was the correct one only to find out it wasn't....I love being right, which my wife does not allow me to be very often!! I am having the dealer install so I cannot be of much help for installation. The cost is around 85 - 90 bucks.
Just wanted to clarify a few things....you can use your IPhone to play music files like a regular IPod. You can't use the phone functions through the radio. I've seen others run the cable under the center console and into the forward tray instead of putting it in the glovebox.
They're putting it in the tray to be able to turn it off. The IPod won't shut off when the truck is turned off, which is kinda screwy. Then the battery will go dead and you'll need to wait for it to charge a little before you can use it again. They way they set it up was stupid. I think they assumed the IPod would be taken out everytime you got out of the truck.
That's odd because I have the integration cable for my Dodge Charger with the regular radio and the iPod stays charged all the time even when the vehicle is off.

Without making a new post since there are a ton about these cables, I have the REN and want to add the Ipod cable. I added the REN after I bought the truck and do not have the UConnect. Does anyone know what all I need to add the Ipod cable and possibly a parts list?
I believe the charging issue is limited to some older Ipod video units (like mine!). I think newer Ipods turn themselves off and do not discharge like mine does.

Since you have the REN, your going to need the module changed out. When you open the front passenger door, there is a cover on the side of the dash, even with the glovebox. The module is in here. It should be part #5064762AC. You'll need to order part #5064449AF to run the Ipod cable (part #8221853) and activate the Ipod soft buttons on your radio.
Here's the kicker....module #5064449AF is only a mere $350 from your dealer.
