get a real scanner and read the data the computer see's. after the 2nd sensor change and nothing got better, I'd think that something else could be the problem. ever heard of wiring problems? seems like a logical step to investigate. did you ever measure resistance of the sensors, did you ever think of getting your hands on the factory service manual instructions which will walk you through step by step diagnosis procedures so you don't just replace parts that are not bad

Default 2002 Grand Caravan Sport P0700 code

02 Grand Caravan Sport MIL came on, checked on board computer it showed P0700. The van was shifting great. Cleared code came back the next day. Took it to transmission shop, there scanner said it showed something to do with the torque converter lockup. They suggested changing the solenoid. Changed it, $400 plus $85 for diagnostic test. Got the van back, next day MIL on again with same P0700 code. Van still shifting great. Don't want to spend too much more money on this van, already out over $500 with tax, any ideas, other than changing the torque converter or entire tranny?

Welcome to DF
Was the code P0740? The problem maybe in the valve body. But you need to run some test from a pdf file or a transmission book.

Default P0700

No, the MIL code was P0700. I don't know the actual code they got from the scanner at the shop. I just assumed they had found something that led them to want to change the soleniod. but I don't think that was the problem. Because it still shifts great and codes after driving at high speeds, (above 60 mph) does not code during in town driving.

Default P0700

Talked to the transmission shop today, and was informed that the only thing it could be now is the torque converter. They said the code they were getting on there scanner showed only two possible problems, the solenoid block or the torque converter. Changed the solenoid block, $80 for diagnostic test and $404 for changing solenoid. They want $800 +tax to change the torque converter. How hard is to change this thing out, the part is only $150 all else is labor.

Default long time reader, first time poster...

Hi,

i like hot coffee, long walk on the ..... oh wait wrong site.
here is the meat and potatoes- 2000 dodge grand caravan, 2wd, 3.8l with 147K miles.

I am asking for help, my 2000 grand caravan is having tranny issues, started with the speed sensors going out- p0700, p0731, p0732 swapping them out fixed it the first few times. light reset after the swap- drove like a champ.

but recently, it popped up with p0700, p0720,p0730, p0731, p0732. speedometer world fluctuate- but would work and shift rough.
i flushed the tranny, replaced the filter, swapped out the input, output speed sensors. Worked for a week, than it went limp.

I changed out the transmission control solenoid. now its only reading p0700, p0731 and p0500. Wont shift gears, and speedo is not registering.

What do i do? My mother remarked that the van is like children's book- "if you give a mouse a cookie" give its, and it asks for more. Am tempted to ram a stake through it block and set the bastard on fire and dance around it in the buff with my pitch fork.
