Default P1684, p0700, p0605

Having a problem with my 01 Grand Caravan Sport. Went into "Limp Mode" the other day after my husband started and quickly turned off car, then restarted it about 3 mintues later. Looked at the codes using the key method and got P1684 and P0700. We replaced the battery about a month ago. Took the car to Amaaco and was told that they pulled a P0605 and that it meant an "Internal Transmission Failure" and that the tranny needed to be rebuilt, and if there was anything besides the normal wear and tear items that it could cost more than the 2400 I was quoted. I left with the vehicle, and had a friend try to pull the tranny codes, because Amaaco didn't or couldn't. My friend was not able to connect to the TCM to check the codes. He got the same P605 ENGINE code and the P0700. Could not pull any other codes. Not sure where to go from here, would the fact that he couldn't connect to the TCM mean that the TCM is shot? I was advised by another friend that works at a Dodge dealer that I should replace both the speed sensors because the check engine light came on before it went into Limp Mode. Kinda stumped.

Replace the TCM, Don't an overhaul. Its not the transmission at this point. You need to be able to talk to the TCM before you do anything else. After the controller has been replaced, then ck the sensor with a scanner to see if they are working.
