My '98 RAM Van conversion van had 100K miles when I bought it. Since Day 1 it didn't like 3rd gear, would go in 3rd for a second, then up to O/D when accelerating, would drop from O/D through 3rd gear for about a second, then down to 2nd gear when climbing a hill. Guess that should have been a hint. Anyway, 20K miles later it blew out on me - won't go into any gear and I can hear it grinding a bit when I try. The O/D-disabled on-dash indicator went on about a mile before I lost all power. Anybody else have this problem, and can anyone recommend a good transmission shop in Queens or Brooklyn? I'm also afraid to know what I'm looking at $-wise but I guess I'll be finding out soon enough. Thanks for any input.
