new noise. Tire? Brake? Bearing? Tranny? HELP
Hi,
I have a 2002 Caravan with 35000 miles.
It just developed a new noise that seems to be coming from the left front tire area. It's hard to describe, it's not a grind or clicking type noise. It changes speed with the car speed. It doesnt change if I turn or brake. I also hear it if I back up.
My thoughts are it could be a bad tire, maybe a shifted belt.
Or, a brake problem, but I thought it might change tone if I hit the brakes, it doesnt.
Or, maybe a wheel bearing. However the noise does not change if I turn left or right.
Any thought? Any feedback would be appreciated.

If you think its a possible tire issue....just for kicks...slap on a donut tire instead of the current tire you believe is bad. If the noise goes away....then you know its tire/wheel related. A bad tire can easily make a noise that would change sounds as you increase/decrease speeds. It wouldnt cost you anything and its something that you can do fairly easily in a short amount of time.
