Default engine swap: 2nd gen to 3rd gen, cummins

My truck 1999 2500 cummins body has turned to rust. Where I live you cant find rust free gas 2500s so I was thinking of swapping my cummins in to a 3rd gen gas 1500 or 2500. Is my running gear on my truck compatible to the 3rd gen if I swapped the axles w/brakes to a 1500 including the cummins? I've done other swaps, just looking for easiest swap w/o buying newer cummins.

getting ECM and PCM to work with the instrument panel on the 3rd gen would be a chore. and the cruise control wont work anymore as pre-01 used vacuum control for cruise, and 01 + used electronic cruise control.

vent control may or may not be an issue.

not sure if they still used vacuum to control the vent blend door still
