Man you have quite the van and there is plenty of time to sort out the small stuff before summer.

I was wondering how did you manage the drive shaft, your original should not fit.

the shaft wasnt hard had the original from the rr it was less then a foot longer then needed so had it shortened by a local shop for 150 . being a shorty there is no hanger bearing just a straight shaft

Yeah, I was just curious how you dealt with a couple things. The big block tranny I was fairly sure it was longer. Also you mentioned a high stall converter from the Road Runner did you decide to use it? I've got a 2600 converter in a 81 Mirada(360)with 484 intake lift and fairly long duration driving through a 904 and 3.55 posi, in hindsight think the stall is too high. Your stall speed is over 3000 rpm and behind a BB how is the noise and rpm at 65mph? One last question is did you convert to straight electronic ignition? I think your power and mileage will be better than whatever the van was running stock, may be mute question if the BB distributor is not compatible. I mean to say compatible with a stock 1985 emissions friendly ignition system which is set up to fire a lean running 318.

This will be one of those vehicles you will always remember owning, lots of war stories in you future.

So, any photos of this swap? And how did you get your gauges working without a functional ECM ?

that was easy about ecm it was a 318 2 bbl with a 904 tranny so no ecm in it to deal with , With the emissions the van didnt have lean burn on it so made life really easyall i did was run two after market cats before muffs and side pipes and is to old to have e test done on it any more . I changed everything over to electronic ignition all from doner car . didnt run the 3000 stall dropped to a 1800 to 2400 stall with a 391 gear ill get pics up here as soon as i down load them off phone
