1000hp Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Attacks the Quarter Mile

By -

Watch this lightly modified Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat exercise more than a thousand horsepower on the drag strip.

The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is the quickest, the fastest and the most powerful 4-door sedan in the world, combining 707 horsepower, a top speed of 204 miles per hour and a stock quarter mile time of 11.0 (per the NHRA certification process). Select Tesla sedans might be able to challenge a stock Hellcat Charger in the quarter mile, but the Dodge has far more top speed capabilities while also offering far more potential via the aftermarket.

The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat in the video above is proof of that aftermarket potential, as this lightly-modded Mopar muscle sedan packs more than a thousand horsepower and runs well into the 9s.

Ruben’s 1000hp Hellcat Charger

The B5 Blue Charger Hellcat in the video above is owned by Ruben Alicea, who clearly knows how to get his 1000hp sedan off of the starting line and down the quarter mile in a hurry. As it the case with most of the quickest Hellcat cars, the “good driver mod” is essential, but this car has a few other upgrades to help it rocket down the quarter mile.

B5 Blue Hellcat Charger Burnout

The supercharged 6.2L Hellcat Hemi has been fitted with a 2.75” upper pulley, a 10% lower pulley, ID1000 fuel injectors and a Q16 race fuel tune from the Hellcat tuning experts at High Horse Performance. Ruben has also added a DSS driveshaft, a 3.09 rear gear and a set of drag radials on 18” wheels.

This is a full-size sedan which tips the scales at well over 4,500lbs with two new pulley, new fuel injectors, a great race fuel tune, a driveshaft, new gears and tires which packs more than a thousand horsepower and runs well into the 9-second quarter mile range.

1000 Horsepower on the Quarter Mile

In the video above from BigKleib34, Ruben’s Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is making a handful of quarter mile runs – all of which begin with fantastic burnouts. Even if you don’t like drag racing or don’t care about quarter mile times, the burnouts in this video are worth two minutes of your time.

On the first run, the Charger runs a 10.19 at 138 miles per hour, which is pretty impressive for a full-size sedan, even with some traction issues on launch. On the second run, he runs a 10.02 at 138 with better traction on the launch.

The third run is where the action really gets good, as this B5 Blue beast lays down a 9.79 while beating up a 4th gen Camaro and against a classic Chevelle in the last run – Ruben’s Hellcat Charger backs up that 9.79 run.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
