The 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie Limited Brings New Luxury, No Crosshairs
The 2015 Chicago Auto Show opened today and the biggest news for the Chrysler Group thus far is the new 2015 Ram Laramie Limited Package – a new high end luxury trimline that will be available for the Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500. The package will debut first for the 2015 Ram 1500 (shown here), followed by the arrival of the Ram 2500 and 3500 versions and regardless of the chassis chosen, all Ram Laramie Limited pickups are available with all of the engines applicable to that vehicle.
The 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie Limited is a premium luxury pickup, so it should come as no surprise that the interior is packed full of plush, padded leather surfaces from the dash to the doors to the seats and all of the cutting edge infotainment technology available in the Ram brand lineup. The Laramie Limited is ideal for the new truck buyer who wants to drive in the lap of luxury, so we can be sure that in the 1500, 2500 and 3500 Ram trucks, this will be the nicest interior that we have ever seen.
Of course, a proper luxury truck needs plenty of bright chrome accents on the outside, and the 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie Limited follows that very predictable path. Big chrome bumpers, chrome step bars, chrome mirrors, chrome door handles, chrome door trim, chrome trimmed headlights and a chrome grille. For someone who wants a high end luxury pickup, this package is expertly designed to have the high end feel, but for Ram owners, the new grille might be a little hard to swallow.
The most striking feature of the 2015 Ram Laramie Limited package is the new grille, which has a design unlike anything that we have seen in the last 30 or so years on a Dodge or Ram brand pickup – until the Ram Rebel debuted last month. Like the Rebel, the Laramie Limited has a grille without crosshairs and instead, the chrome grille sports a massive RAM font logo right across the middle. This Ram logo is set in floating horizontal chrome bars with an unusual darkened opening on each side of the logo.
To match the new grille, the 2015 Laramie Limited package has an even bigger Ram logo spread across the tail gate, also similar to the design of the Ram Rebel. Ram fans shouldn’t have any problems with the huge logo on the tailgate, but the lack of the familiar Ram’s head logo is a bit bothersome and I expect that hardcore Ram and Dodge truck fans are going to crap a brick over a second Ram pickup with no crosshairs. I am a fan of the crosshair grille and I would never remove the crosshairs from any of my Ram trucks, but I understand the need for change and I do not dislike the bold RAM grille. I miss the crosshairs a little, but I like the general direction of this new grille design.
