360-degree View of a Hellcat Charger Crushing a Nissan GTR: Track Time Tuesday
Charger Hellcat jumps out to an early lead and just keeps on pulling, running a 10.05 in the quarter-mile.
The problem with many in-car or on-car drag racing videos is that you only get one perspective of the run, but the 360-degree camera setup on the roof of this Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat allows us to see every part of the track during the run. This week’s Track Time Tuesday video comes to us from the HellcatOnTheTrack YouTube channel and it features a modified Mopar sedan handing a beating to a Nissan GTR; one of the greatest performance cars in the history of the Japanese auto industry.
The Competitors
The footage above shows a Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat taking on a Nissan GTR. The owner and driver of the Charger believes that this Japanese supercar is stock, and based on the stock wheels and the overall performance on this run, we are inclined to agree. However, the Hellcat sedan is not stock.

The IHI supercharger of this Charger has been fitted with an upgraded, 2.75-inch pulley that increases peak boost pressure. With the extra boost comes the need for more fuel, so the owner has added ID1050 fuel injectors and the system is tuned to run on MS109 racing fuel.
Finally, to make the most of the extra power, this Hellcat Charger has aftermarket wheels, with a skinny setup up front and big, fat drag radials out back. Also, on this particular run, the passenger’s seat had been removed, so this Charger is a touch lighter than a factory-stock machine.
Hellcat Versus Godzilla
As the best-performance Japanese performance cars ever, the Nissan GTR has earned itself the nickname Godzilla. In the modern form, the combination of a twin turbocharged V6 and an advanced all-wheel-drive system makes the GTR one of the quickest stock street cars in the world. In fact, when running against a stock Hellcat Dodge from a dig, the Nissan stands a good chance of winning more often than not. However, this Charger packs more power and better grip than a stock sedan, leveling the playing field a bit.

Well, the playing field really isn’t leveled, as this Charger hands the GTR a pretty serious beating. Thanks to the sticky tires, the supercharged Dodge jumps out to an early lead over the all-wheel-drive Nissan and from there, the Japanese supercar isn’t able to catch up. Instead, the Hellcat just keeps on pulling away, beating the GTR by a huge margin on the top end.
We don’t get to see any times, but in speaking with the driver, we know that the Hellcat Charger laid down a 10.05 on this pass.

For those unfamiliar with the 360-degree camera view, if you are on a phone or mobile device, moving the phone side to side will allow you to pan around on the video footage. If you are a computer, you can point and click, dragging the camera around to see every angle of the race, so you can watch straight ahead on the launch and as the Nissan falls behind, you can look back to see how far behind.
Crank up your speakers and enjoy!
