Bargain-Priced Sleeper: 690 Horsepower Neon!

The beast within lurks under the hood, however. A fully-built engine running Megasquirt 2 fuel injection is fed by an enormous Precision 6265 ball bearing turbocharger. Boosted to a stratospheric 33 PSi, it produces a dyno-proven 690 horsepower to the wheels. Now that’s what we call a sleeper.

All of the supporting mods are there to ensure that the rotating assembly doesn’t end up splattered on the asphalt below. ARP head studs, forged pistons, 1200cc injectors, and the venerable Walbro 255 fuel pump are just some of the beefy upgrades designed to hold this thing together at the limit. It’s an impressive build, certainly one that couldn’t be replicated for the paltry $6500 asking price.

Special attention was paid elsewhere, too: a Quaife limited-slip differential helps to get all 690 thundering, stampeding horses to the ground, while inside, SRT4 seats front and rear spruce up the interior and help to keep you planted during high-speed maneuvers. Still, we’re utterly amazed that that dyno sheet goes to this car. We bet if you asked the neighbors about the monster living next door, they’d say “He always seemed so nice, we never would have expected it in a million years…”
