Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 Hilariously Slapped With Quarter-Million Dollar Markup
Though it’s rare and desirable, we can’t imagine a world in which someone would pay this much for a Challenger SRT Demon 170.
The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 is easily one of the rarer and more desirable machines to launch in recent years, with just 3,300 units slated for production, each with an MSRP of just over $96k. For that outlay of cash, you get quite a bit in terms of performance, thanks to the car’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8 making a whopping 1,025 horsepower and 945 pound-feet of torque, which rockets the large coupe to 60 mph in just 1.66 seconds and down the quarter-mile in 8.91 seconds. As one might imagine, we’ve seen plenty of examples out there slapped with massive markups as a result, but none beat the one listed for sale over at DARCARS Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.
There, you’ll find a rather nice-looking blue Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 listed for sale with the good old “call for pricing and availability” tag, meaning that if you have to ask, you probably can’t afford it. However, somebody snagged a picture of the window sticker for this particular car, and it reveals some truly shocking information, as we can see from this post from American Muscle on Instagram.

The MSRP on this nicely-optioned Challenger SRT Demon 170 is a cool $133,131, but the dealer has also added the typical “assurance package,” as it calls it in this case, which includes things like a “cabin sanitation service” and the ever-popular nitrogen-filled tires, all for “just” $2,495 extra. Three’s also a $500 processing charge and a $195 set of wheel locks, but the most shocking extra charge here is a truly eye-watering $250,000 “adjusted market price.”
That brings the sticker price of this muscular machine up to a truly astounding $386,321, which is so high it’s borderline comical. We certainly can’t imagine a world in which someone might pay that much money for this particular car, but then again, we saw it happen time and time again just a few years ago as people were apparently flush with cash. These days, with interest rates soaring and the economy slowing, well, we’re not so sure that’s still the case.
In any event, it seems as if this particular dealership is trying to make a healthy profit on a rare and desirable car, and while some may not have a problem with that, such a bold move is going to garner tremendous attention (and negative publicity) across the internet – and in this case, that’s clearly warranted.
