Dodge Challenger SRT 'Ghoul' Hits the Dyno

Rory from YouTube channel R/T Life breaks down a video from 2020 that allegedly features a real-world dyno test of an SRT ‘Ghoul.’

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is one of the most popular muscle car nameplates on the planet. The car’s ridiculous performance and competitive price tag earned Demon its legendary status. Then in early 2019, the company stirred even more excitement, when it released teaser images suggesting that there might be yet another monstrous offering coming our way.

The mysterious model was called SRT Ghoul, and it was rumored to be the most powerful version of Dodge Challenger. As soon as Dodge released the teaser images, industry experts speculated that Challenger SRT Ghoul might be an elaborate prank. In one of his most recent webisodes, Rory from YouTube channel R/T Life breaks down a video from 2020 that allegedly features a real-world dyno test of a Challenger SRT Ghoul.

According to the YouTuber, the car seen in the video is not the highly anticipated muscle car, but a Challenger that is powered by a Hellephant crate motor and sports Ghoul badges. Rory shared his thoughts on the video, “This was made in 2020, and it was used as a promotion to advertise for Magnaflow’s new X, cat-back xMOD exhaust setup. It just so happened that they used a Challenger with some Ghoul badges on the side and a Hellephant crate engine underneath the hood.”

For the uninitiated, the Hellephant crate motor is a 426 cubic inch third-generation Hemi V8. The motor is an aluminum block that gets forged aluminum pistons, nodular iron camshaft, forged steel crank, and steel connecting rods. The powerplant can produce 1000 HP of power and 950 ft of peak torque.

“A lot of people are really hoping that this is some kind of testing from Dodge and that they’re experimenting and seeing, you know, what the power levels are with the Ghoul and everything like that. I just think that they’re trolling,” said Rory.

The $200,000 Challenger SRT Ghoul originally started as an April fool’s day joke, and is typically run by a few publications each year. It is worth noting that neither Dodge nor SRT has has any plans for such a model, nor do they claim any “Ghoul” related. But videos like these give us those “what-if” moments that get us pretty excited.
