Dodge Charger Redeye Is on the Way, Says Motor Trend

Dodge Charger Redeye

We might have to wait until the end of the year to see it, but apparently the 797-HP Charger Redeye is a go after all.

Charger fans have been forced to sit by the wayside as rides like the Challenger Redeye and Demon have stolen the spotlight in recent months. Wondering when, or if, they might also receive a more powerful or purposeful version of their beloved four-door. We received a little bit of a consolation prize when Dodge brought a Charger Widebody (pictured) to this year’s Spring Festival of LX. And now, according to Motor Trend’s  Jonny Lieberman, it looks like we’ll be getting a Charger Redeye after all.

Lieberman announced the news via his personal Instagram account in a rather unceremonious fashion. But let’s be honest – did anybody really think that Dodge wouldn’t eventually build a Charger Redeye? We even speculated that the widebody Charger could be carrying this upgraded Hellcat back in March. It just makes too much sense not to happen. Or as Lieberman says, “Because duh. They’d be deaf, numb, and blind not to.”

Redeye Charger is coming. I’ve been sitting on this one for a bit, but no big surprise, Dodge will make a 797 horsepower version of the widebody Charger. Because duh. They’d be deaf, numb, and blind not to. Let’s remember why we love the Redeye. After years of EVERYONE saying, “We love the 707 hp supercharged engine, but the car needs better brakes, better suspension, and needs to lose 500 pounds,” Dodge responds with, “Uh huh, uh huh, we hear you. Here’s MOAR POWER!!!” Anyhow, not sure when we’ll see the Charger Redeye (LA show?), but rest assured it’s coming. Pictured is the Widebody Charger Concept from a month ago. I can’t wait. Thoughts? #dodge #chargerredeye #hellcat @dodgeofficial 🇺🇸🔥🔥🔥🇺🇸

Lieberman admits that he doesn’t know when we’ll actually see the Charger Redeye. But he guesses it could happen at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, which takes place November 22-December 1. That’s obviously a little far off, but perhaps Dodge is in the early stages of slapping this beast together.

Thus, it appears that Charger fans won’t be left out in the cold, after all. Soon, we’ll have the option of going toe-to-toe with pretty much any other modern muscle car out there in the wild. And sure, it’d be nice to have a fresh-sheet redesign at this point with a little weight loss, but who’s gonna complain about nearly 800 horsepower? Certainly not us.
