Duo rips off $340 million from magnate Warren Buffett and buys more than 90 vehicles, multiple yachts and several homes.

If you haven’t heard, there is currently a federal investigation going on in relation to a couple who ran a mobile solar generator company by the name of DC Solar. Among investors in this company were Warren Buffet’s conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway, which had invested $340 million dollars to the company. The way that DC Solar was paying investors at all, was by paying them back with new investor’s money. Thus, over time, the scheme was discovered.

In an article by Business Insider, we find out that the owners of DC Solar, Jeff and Paulette Carpoff, spent their investor’s money quite lavishly. Included in this list was a $40 million dollars in property including a Las Vegas mansion, a private jet, and boat. With Jeff having an upbringing as an auto mechanic, we assume he had interest in cars. However, the couple somehow amassed a collection of over 90 vehicles. We love cars as much as the next enthusiast, but we honestly aren’t sure what we would do with 90 cars or better yet, where to put them.

However, when obsession becomes reality, it seems there is always a way to make it work. We remind ourselves of the story of the man who embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from his company over the course of years to fund his addiction to BMW 2002’s (he had dozens of them).

While we could spend all day going through the lists of cars the Carpoff’s purchased over the years, we rather point out a few key examples that caught our interest. One of which was a 2018 Dodge Demon. Sadly we don’t have very much information about the car other than the fact that it was a Dodge Demon. If you needed a reminder, it does really good burnouts and looks good in just about any color you choose. Considering how much money the Carpoffs have, burning through tires every stop light shouldn’t really pose as a problem.

Another example that stood out to us was a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner. One of the original budget muscle cars of its era, it has established itself as a true classic in our modern times. We are very curious as to what the their reasoning was to buy this particular vehicle, as it definitely is an unconventional choice. Was it a Sunday beach cruiser or a impulsive purchase to see what a classic car was like? We might never know, but hopefully some of this Mopar power will come up in the federal court proceedings over the course of this year.
