Dodge ‘Mile-High’ NHRA Nationals Serves Up Fast Fun in Colorado

By -

Take your shot behind the wheel of a Dodge Demon simulator before the real action heats up the mountains, July 20-22.

Drag racing, in pretty much any form, is obviously one of our favorite spectator sports. But it doesn’t get any better than the pro-level competition served up by the NHRA. And among the many excellent events on NHRA’s calendar for 2018, it sure looks like one in particular is shaping up to be extra special for Dodge fans. That event is the Mile-High Nationals, taking place at Bandimere Speedway, July 20-22 in Golden, Colorado.

While the racing action spans the dates above, the party actually starts a day early on July 19. It’s then that Dodge kicks off the festivities with a massive block part in downtown Golden. Along with music, food, and other various forms of fun, you’ll also have a chance at a brand new, very cool contest – the Drag Strip Showdown.

Hot shoes from all over the nation will get their chance to strap into a Dodge Demon simulator and go head-to-head. Come out on top, and you might just get the chance to train with the pros at at the Bondurant Drag Racing School. And before you virtually hop behind the wheel, you’ll get some expert coaching from Top Fuel driver Leah Pritchett and Dodge Charger Funny Car driver Matt Hagan.

Even if you don’t win that showdown, you’ll still be treated to the hottest drag racing action on the planet 5,800-plus feet above sea level. It’s an interesting challenge for crews and drivers, who must adapt to the intricate problems presented by extreme elevation. That includes a distinct lack of downforce, which can prove quite tricky to overcome.
