Dodge Viper Captures Holiday Spirit with Smoky Christmas Tree Donuts

By -

Massive rear wing of the Extreme aero package makes the Viper ACR the perfect holiday hauler.

The Dodge Viper ACR that nearly broke into the six-minute range at the Nurburgring was equipped with the Extreme Aero package that includes the massive carbon fiber rear spoiler. That big wing provides insane amounts of downforce at high speeds while also giving the Viper the look of a GT3 car. However, when that big wing isn’t providing hundreds of pounds of downforce, it also makes for a handy hauling shelf of sorts.

In the video above from the YouTube channel of Ethan Reish, a Viper ACR Extreme uses the rear wing to carry the family Christmas Tree, but if that isn’t unusual enough, this Mopar supercar does some smoky donuts with the tree strapped to the roof.

Supercar Tour and a Dart

The video above begins with Reish moving a Bentley Bentayga around the parking lot of The Motorcar Connection, a pre-owned supercar dealer, followed by a look at some of the high-dollar machines on the property. Other vehicles on display with the new Bentley SUV include a handful of Rolls Royce cars, a few Lamborghinis, a Ferrari, a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon and a classic Oldsmobile, all of which are cool, but they are far from Viper-carrying-a-Christmas-Tree-cool.

Next, Reish gives us a look at his Dodge Dart and the new low-rise rear spoiler that he added to the trunk lid, asking his viewers whether or not they think that he should keep it. That is followed by a short ride in the Dart, during which he promises “something special.”

Enter: Viper

The next segment in this video is what you call came to see, as Reish heads into a garage that houses a Lamborghini Murcielago, a Nissan GT-R and, of course, a Dodge Viper ACR. The Christmas Tree is already strapped to the roof, extending back across the huge rear wing as we learned that they are going to take the ACR and the GT-R for a cruise to get some footage of the Mopar supercar hauling a tree.

The fun begins with the cameraman recording from the Nissan as the Viper ACR cruises down the road with a large tree suspended above the trunk lid, and after airing up the tires, it is time to make the donuts.

The first attempt isn’t great, but on the second try, the Viper owner generates a ton of tire smoke, painting lines in the parking lot as the ACR whips around with the Christmas Tree, shedding needles in the process.

The video ends with Reish helping the ACR owner get the tree off of the car, followed by a deserving bath to rinse away all of the needles hiding in the body lines.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
