Lifelong Mopar Obsession Leads to Massive Muscle Collection

Mopar Collection

Hot Rod stumbles across an amazing collection of Mopar muscle spanning 150 acres, almost as if by accident.

Chances are, if you’re reading this, you fell in love with some sort of Mopar at an early age. Even if you own/drive a modern muscle car, you’re likely fond of the classics, at the very least. Al Decarolis of New Jersey is just like us in that regard. He fell in love with classic Mopar muscle cars during their heyday, and has remained obsessed with them ever since. The only difference between Decarolis and most of us is that he actually owns a barn full of rare cars today that Hot Rod recently stumbled across almost by accident.

Apparently, the rag was searching for an E-Body Challenger in the area when the owner of that ride told them about Decarolis and his collection. So naturally, they had to go check it out. Needless to say, they were blown away by what they found, and so were we. Decarolis has slowly filled his 150-acre plot of land with all sorts of different Mopar machines, not to mention parts and parts cars. But the cream of his proverbial crop resides inside his rather large garage.

Like anyone with “children,” Decarolis has his favorites, including a 1971 Challenger 440 Six-Pack. “This Plumb Crazy ’71 I’ve had for 45 years,” he told Hot Rod. “It’s up in the air a bit, ’70s street-machine style. But it’s an original Super-Trak Pack car with 4:10 gears and rowed by a four-speed. I really love the 1971s and only a few were made.”

The two other Challengers sitting next to that special car are both 1970s with 440 Six-Packs. The Hemi Orange car is a four-speed while the Lemon Twist packs an automatic. “They are all Super Trak Pack cars,” Decarolis explained. “But the automatic is known as having the Super Performance Axle, since it’s an automatic car. Like the others, it has 4:10 gears.”

Then there’s a 1970 Hemi Challenger Decarolis is in the process of restoring. Hot Rod also spotted a super-rare Plymouth Road Runner convertible with the six-barrel 440, as well as an original, low-mile 1970 Hemi ‘Cuda.

If that isn’t a group of Mopar muscle that makes you want to drool, we don’t know what is. While Decarolis obviously has cars he’ll never part with, that doesn’t apply to everything in his possession. In fact, Hot Rod reports that he’s looking to part ways with a few of them. So be sure and head over here to snag his contact info if you’re in the market. And while you’re there, flip through all the incredible pics of this Mopar fan’s incredible collection!
