Ultra-Low-Mileage Dodge Durango Shelby SP360

Dodge’s Durango SRT isn’t the first three-row super SUV made by Mopar.

Time puts a lot of things in perspective, especially things like horsepower. Rewind back to 1999 and you’ll find that 360 horsepower was headline grabbing news. That is the amount of push under the hood of this blue jewel, the Shelby SP360. “SP” stands for Super Pursuit, and 360 is self-explanatory.

The way things came together is almost as interesting as the SUV, since it wasn’t supposed to be a Shelby product. In fact, Shelby only licensed his name for use when the tuner, Performance West Group, couldn’t scrape up enough cash to support the project.

Under the hood is Dodge’s 5.9 Magnun V8, with air entering the engine through a Kenne Bell supercharger. This particular example, however, has been massaged for even more horsepower. Power is sent to all four wheels, and on some examples, the whole SUV sits 3-inches lower.

Colored in Viper Blue, with appropriate twin white stripes, this could very well be the lowest mileage SP360 out of the estimated production run of 300. Considering the condition of this SUV, it’s easy to believe it has covered less than 30,000 miles.

With such low production figures, it’s tough to gauge if the asking price of $39,900 is in line with the car’s actual value. For the determined Shelby collector, however, it may be worth every penny.
