Slammed Humvee 6×6 With Hellcat Power Is One of the Craziest Builds Ever

Humvee 6x6 With Hellcat V8

This wild Humvee is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before, and in this case, that certainly isn’t a bad thing.

While the Hummer has become a household name thanks to GM’s road-going SUV, many of us still associate that same look with the original Humvee, a vehicle build specifically for military use. Officially known as the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), the Humvee certainly wasn’t perfect – it was a bit vulnerable to improvised explosive devices, for example – but the rugged model did earn its fair share of fans thanks to its wicked looks and supreme capability. As such, we’ve seen plenty of custom Humvee builds over the years, but nothing quite like this.

Richard Rawlings (of Gas Monkey Garage and Fast ‘N Loud fame) recently got a chance to check out this incredible build in the flesh, a Frankenstein-like creation from the minds of two companies – Danton Arts Kustoms and Frenchy Export LLC. Those entities started out with a 2009 AM General Military Humvee and proceeded to completely reimagine it, with an eye toward making a name for themselves at SEMA. Needless to say, we think that a six-wheel-drive Humvee that looks like a futuristic time attack racer is the perfect tool for that.

The whole thing actually started out as a joke, however, with some ideas conjured up for a spare body that was just sitting around collecting dust. From there, things spiraled out of control as the crew got to work chopping up and reshaping that body, removing 10 inches in length, lowering the roof by around four inches, and building a custom frame for it to ride on with an air suspension, which contains the aforementioned extra differential. Additionally, the front end is raked forward a bit and fitted with a custom bumper.

As one might imagine, the now-slammed military beast rides on staggered 20- and 24-inch wheels wrapped with equally-large 245/40 and 305/35 tires, a fitting matte green hue, and a rear wing that looks like something one might find on an aircraft – because that’s precisely where it came from. Of course, one can’t build something this audacious without also fitting it with a proper V8, and in this case, that’s the supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8, which in this guise sends 717 horsepower to the wheels via GM’s 4L80-E automatic transmission.

In terms of the cabin, the team gave its wicked Humvee a full-blown custom treatment, but in this case, it mostly retains the basic, utilitarian nature of the original. Now that the incredible build has received some serious media attention – courtesy of Rawlings and his massive reach – it’s set to be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale sale, where we don’t doubt someone will find it irresistible – if for no other reason than the fact that nothing else like it exists anywhere on the planet right now.
