Dodge Charger SRT8 vs Dodge Magnum R:T Drag Race

It may have some mods, but this Magnum R/T is not match for a stock Dodge Charger SRT8, making for an embarrassing situation.

There was a time, now long ago, when the Dodge Charger SRT8 was a true world-beating muscle car, though today, it’s largely overshadowed by the Hellcat models that followed. Updated multiple times over the years, the Dodge Charger SRT8 hung around the lineup for a rather long time, using its naturally-aspirated Hemi V8 to churn out impressive power and performance. That much was clearly on display in this video from YouTuber SRT Dad, who took some time to beat a trash-talking Magnum R/T owner recently.

In this case, SRT Dad claims that his Dodge Charger SRT8 is bone stock, but he recently ran into a Magnum R/T owner who has installed long tube headers on his family hauler. It’s unclear what model year this particular Charger is, but its 6.1-liter V8 was originally rated to produce around 425 horsepower, while the Magnum R/T utilized precisely the same powerplant, and offered up the same output.

Regardless, in the short clip, the Magnum R/T owner brags about how many SRTs he’s beaten in various drag races, even pointing to the “falling” S sticker on his fender, which he says is coming off because when he “catches up to them and beats them, they’re falling off.” Unfortunately for him on this particular day, that certainly wasn’t the case – not by a long shot.

Rather, the stock Dodge Charger SRT8 proceeds to dish out a pair of defeats to the trash talking Dodge Magnum R/T owner, simply walking away from the wagon in the first roll race without breaking a sweat. The same is true of the second showdown, which sees the Charger dish out basically the same severity of beating that it did the first time.

We would have loved to get a little post race reaction from the Magnum owner here, but that unfortunately isn’t included in this YouTube short. Regardless, we have to imagine that the owner’s confidence has been knocked down a couple of pegs now, and perhaps they won’t be as quick to talk smack in the future.
