Wicked Wednesday: Carlex Design Puts the Hell in This Dodge Challenger Hellcat

Thanks to Carlex Design this Challenger Hellcat has a custom gothic interior vibe to match the menacing sound and performance.

The Dodge Challenger Hellcat is not a car that goes gently into that good night. Oh no. The Hellcat rages against the dying of the light. We bet Dylan Thomas never imagined his poem being referenced in a Dodge Forum article. Anyway, the Challenger is about power, and a menacing sound. It is a dark, and serious car. If you were looking for the opposite of a Mazda Miata, this would be it. But despite all the hell and fury under the hood and coming from the exhaust, the interior is rather pedestrian. Not that it isn’t nice, but it doesn’t match the hellish vibe that the engine puts out. Well, the folks at Carlex Design have changed that. They have produced a custom interior for this car that is as ominous, intimidating, and beautiful as you would expect in something called a Hellcat.

This week’s “Wicked Wednesday” is all about this Dodge Challenger by Carlex Design. From the outside it has a clean look. It is tastefully modified and looks good. But it would not exactly stop traffic. But once you open the door and peak inside you can’t help but stare. That is when you are treated to what is likely the most unique and impressive interior in any Hellcat. They say the devil is in the details and this interior has details abound. Whether it is your style or not is of course up to your own personal taste. However, you can not deny the skill and effort that went into making this an interior you will never forget. RoCars recently got a detailed look at the car and posted the video to their YouTube channel. Let’s check it out.

Carlex Design

Carlex Design is a design studio located in Poland, about 4 hours south of Warsaw. They design and create unique accessories for cars, airplanes, and boats. And using the word unique is probably an understatement. What they produce is some of the most spectacular and distinctive looks that you will ever see. Their goal is to create art. They can do this with some of their custom body kits, but for the Hellcat the real artwork is on the inside.

Exterior

The inside is the center piece, but we need to at least touch on the exterior design. The cool thing about it is that it is obviously not stock, but it does not tip you off to what awaits inside. The exterior is a clean matte gray that gives the car a clean and serious look. The car also sports a set of custom wheels and various Carlex Design badges. The black and gray color scheme gives it that gloomy and dark look, but it pales in comparison to the inside.

Medieval Magic Alchemy

Konrad Labedz is the artist who came up with the concept design of the car. He wanted the interior of the car to involve the element of medieval magic alchemy. His design was then handed to Artur Wochniak, the artist who was charged with transferring the design into an actual sculpture. Sitting in the car gives the sense that you are sitting inside a burnt structure. Looking at the door panels you think you are looking at a charred tree. The wood used was seasoned outside and rolled down a steep wooden slope for several days by a group of workers before it was processed further. Normal cars are not made like this! The shifter and other controls look like the survived an inferno. The interior of this Hellcat truly looks like it has been to hell and back.

Steering Wheel

There are so many intricate details to the interior it is tough to focus on just one aspect. However, the steering wheel is a masterpiece. The steering wheel was cast in solid silver. It was then handed to the jewelers at Carlex Design. The jewelers then retouched the wheel and added the patina. The wheel is to look like an organic shape that fits with the rest of the interior. It is an amazing piece and not something you will find in any other car in the world.

Seats and Shifter

The gear shift knob was plated in silver. The place where the gear indicators are placed was made of resin and finished in silver and leather. It looks like it would still burn your hand if you touched it. The seats are all covered in exotic leathers with wide seams and large stitching. The seats also have that charred wood look to them. Looking at the pictures you can almost smell burnt wood.

Target Audience

There is no mention of pricing, but we are sure this would not be cheap. So, who would buy a car like this? Well, do you own a tattoo shop? This could be the car for you. Are you a fan of gothic and dark art? Perhaps you just want to have something that no one else does? Maybe you appreciate art for the sake of art and understand all the effort and craftsmanship that went into this thing. Whatever the reason might be, you have to watch the video below to get a closer look at this amazing piece of art. That just so happens to also be a Hellcat.
