My Avenger stopped running a couple months ago. First found fuel pressure but no spark in cylinders 1 & 4. I replaced the comp., coil, crank sensor and cam sensor and found nothing. Now I found out that it has low compression. Cyl #1- 50, #2-50, #3-53, and #4-50. Cyl.#3 is the only one with a sign of recieving fuel or spark. How do I check to see if it jumped time.

 

You have to ground the timing and use a timing light. Have you replaced the ASD relay? That seems to be the only thing you haven't changed, lol.

 

No, I have not replaced the ASD relay. My biggest problem is my low compression and is probably the cause of no spark or fuel.

 

Well, low compression isn't what's keeping you from getting spark and fuel. One of the sensors, relays, or computer is doing that. Low compression means that your piston/rings aren't sealing up well and allowing the built up pressure from the combustion to leak past them.
The cranks sensor, cam sensor, ecu, asd, fuel relay, distro, rotor, wires, plugs, fuel injectors, etc. are what's keeping from getting the car to turn over. Your car will run with low compression, a littl smokey with a possible rough idle, but it will crank up and run.

 

Try adding some oil 10/30 or ATFto the cylinders and ck compression, if the compression comes up the rings are not sealing and if they don't come up then you may have a valve problem.

 

Ok. Thank you very much for your response. I will check the ASDrelay. I find it very unlikely that the rings are bad being the engine has only 220 miles on the rebuild. The garage that did it is just too far away to take it there.
