The Neon uses a different dash cluster and instrumentation... Best of luck getting it to work ...
We use a mitsu based cluster and gauges ... The Neon uses dodge ... Have fun getting that to interconnect

If you're willing to put this much effort and money into this, why don't you just buy one online?
BTW, the Eclipse 420a is another drop in. I'm not sure why you're stuck on the Neon motor, I understand the availability issue, but it just sounds like you would rather make this swap harder? Is this going along the lines of future SRT-4 type mods? Well, you will have to consider fitment in our engine bays.

hey man the neon motor is the same as the avenger motor so why do you think it would be so hard. they are both 420a and should go in the car just like if it were a 420a avenger to begin with. and look at what you did to your car. i mean that is a hell of alot of work to make it all wheel drive and **** im sure mine will be much cheaper to do right? i dont know i just love my car alot and i want to make it a stick and a 4 banger so that i can easily and cheaply turbo it, and yes i plan on srt 4 mods in the future so i will prolly build the motor before i drop it in and how much boost can a stcok na 420a take anyway?

That's my point. This should be an "easy" swap to go from a 2.5 to a 2.0 just to have a manual. You're not looking to boost it or AWD, you're looking to have a manual. So, why make it harder on yourself?
I'm not saying, don't do it, I'm saying that you will have to put time, effort, and money into, so why make it harder? It's the same motor, just a different variant...and no, the two 420a motors aren't exact. For one the Neon head is "backwards" compared to the Eclipse/Talon/Avenger/Sebring 420a and it's a SOHC compare to our 420a DOHC. The computer will also need to be change out and the harnesses are different, not to mention the lengths because the chasis is different. Any future mods you do will be for the Neon's motor and not the Avenger/Sebring/Eclipse/Talon motor. Not that it's a bad thing, but I don't think you see the big picture of your proposed Neon 420a swap.
What I am saying is, if you're looking to have a manual and that's your bottom line goal, make it easy on yourself and swap in the exact motor so that you're not having to piece together this and that. This will allow it to be "dropped" in with minor fabrications

yeah, so your saying that this should be a pretty easy swap then right? And the neon did come with the DOHC that was the same motor. but other than that it should work then right? And a question that i had in the last comment was where can i get an engine wiring harness for cheap?

The even the DOHC head is "backwards". Avenger/Eclipse instakes are by the firewall and exhaust is by the radiator and that is flipped around on the Neon SOHC and DOHC. Harnesses are "best" bought at a junkyard. There usually isn't a lot of wear and tear on them, just dirt and oil. Nothing a little electrical contact cleaner and degreaseer can't clean.

Not only is it the same wiring but so is the motor, all the same but the ignition timing. The turbo kits are even the same. That's what I've been trying to tell you .
95-99 Eclipse N/A..95-98 Talon N/A..95-00 Avenger/Sebring are the same. These cars are based off the same platform, share the same parts, built from the same plant! The engine bays are the same (avenger/sebrings are longer from front to back), the motors, the wiring, the electronics (except programming), fitment...the same. Not the Neons. Are you following me? I know you say that there are tons of them in the junkyard near you, but for a motor that puts out around the same HP/Torque, why would you want to have a bigger headache just to be able to drive a manual? The gains are minimal over the work involved....not the swap, but the Neon motor you want to swap in. Do you see what I'm saying?
If you were to put the 4g63 turbo motor in and AWD, then it's well worth it's weight in work even though you'd have a bigger headache with fabbing, but you'd have a performance motor in a typically non-performance platform.
This swap has been considered before and has been deemed non-beneficial even if it were to go with a manual tranny.

i understand what you have been trying to tell me and i dont want to make an argument here but, in the yard right by my house they have 3 neon dohc in there same motor and all, im just going to order the wiring harness off of the internet and grab the motor/tranny while im there and the ecu. then im going to build it and turbo it. that not all that bad is it? i dont have a whole hell of alot of money thats why im doing this instead of the awd conversion it will take way to much money and i cant afford that. but that what im going to do.
