Default few questions

So I'll be looking at a 96 avenger this weekend and I have a few questions.

How many miles is the I4 engine good for, is 140K alot for these?

How are the transmissions on them? This ones a 5 speed.

Is there anything I should really look out for while looking at an avenger?

140 is OK be sure timing bemts been changed , The 5 Speed is pretty stout and holds up well ...
Things to look for , brakes warp easily if you notice pedal pulsation plan on new rotors ...
There is a recall , and will be done for free and a free suspension check

Of course your normal everyday body/motor check. Drive it, get on it, then check for leaks.
If the belt(s) have been replaced...ask for a receipt, if the lower ball joint has been recalled...ask for the work order. Nothing out of the norm.

130K on my '98 Sebring Coupe 2.5 (basically same car) and still going strong. Easy check - park it over a piece of cardboard (under the hood area obviously) while you look/talk it over. Anything on the paper after a few minutes other than A/C condensation might need checked. Check the insides of the front tires for wear, I don't think it has camber adjustment so it could easily indicate a problem. Good Luck!
