No start condition - no spark, no codes
Hope some one can help!
I picked up a 86', 2.5 L. It has no spark and I have check for continuity on all related wiring with positive results. My OBDII tester shows no codes present (battery removed)
Cam sensor is in the distributor (hall effect) along with a power transistor. No coil pack.
First, I know I need a better OBDII tester
that can sense the state of the Crank sensor and cam sensor but if I had the bucks for that I could pay to have it fixed.
But then again, what fun would that be.
Only clue I can provide is: The car had one plug wire shorting out to ground when it stopped running according to the previous owner. It was easy to confirm that.
Question,
crank sensor (available)
or
Cam Sensor (might have to buy the module, because I have not found one)
or
power transistor / (same as above)
Thanks in advance for your help.

If I were you I'd replace the Crank Positioning Sensor. My car was running like crap too until i switched it. It ran me about 80 bucks from my local part store.

BV did a good how-to on checking the CPS. I would suggest that first before buying one.
The CPS is a likely and common issue, but not always the culprit
