Default hydrolic timing tensioner

how do u get the plunger on the tensioner back in to reinstall it? the book says use a vice, but i dont have a vice

I viced mine in , either borrow one or do you have a big "C clamp" possibly be able to get that on and compress it ...I used a large zip tie to to hold mine then clipped it when installed

I have used a vice twice, and a C-clamp once. vice was certainly much easier. Not sure which engine you have. On the 2.0 L4, there is a pin hole on the side that goes all the way through the bloack and shaft.I sacrificed an allen wrench- put through the pin hole to hold the shaft compresed while you install. Although it sounds like the zip tie works perfectly well too - andwon't ruin your allen wrench
