Default 1995 Avenger Tranny Questions + Other Questions

Hey folks, I'm new here but had a few questions and was hoping to get a lil help. I just boughtan Avenger with 133,xxx miles, 2.0 automatic. It runs good and seems dependable-I've only had it for a week. I've noticed that since I've had it the it seems that the transmission is doing something weird-not even sure if it's the tranny. If I accelerate as I normally do it stays in 1st gear till the rpm gets to about 3 or 4 and then it shifts fine after that. It sounds like the engine is winding all the way up and I feel like something is gonna break =) It does it all the time...Now I also noticed, if I drive like I'm 90 and accelerate slow then it shifts fine. I took it to a tranny shop around my house and the guy drove it and said it it shifts a lil late, but it seems fine. Said it could be something called O rings (?). I just didn't seem satisfied and wanted a few more opinions about it. I can't afford to get the tranny replaced, I'd rather sell it and get something else. But to be honest, I really like the car, it's good on gas and handles well...So I'm just unsure what to do.

Also, if I decided to keep the car (depending on the tranny issue), are there any good guides on how to do the following:

- Smoke headlights
- Smoke taillights
- Somebody painted all the air vents and radio bezel/trim white and now it's chipped (what an idiot=). I'd like to remove these and re-paint them another color-gray or black.
- Also, I'd like to remove the grille inserts in the front bumper to also have re-painted
- Remove the fog light inserts (that were also painted white) and re-paint them as well.

Below is a pic of my car. Disregard my split bumper, I have someone to fix that if I keep it =) Thanks in advance for your thoughts!!
