Default Still Dying At Idle

I’m having the same old problem with dying at idle. I really want to fix it myself before I end up taking it into the shop, but its been like this for nearly a year, and I’m getting frustrated. Basically, when I’m going, its fine, but as soon as I put on the breaks or slow down, it dies out. Starts up fine, and idles fine as long as I don’t start to drive it. Once I drive and stop it dies. What in the world is the problem here? I did the whole plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor business, and that didn’t solve the problem. My other car is getting repoed this next week, so I need to get my Avenger running again.

First off go and get some seafoam and run it thru the intake per instructions ... I'm guessing the IAC Idle air control is dirty ...

Seafoam=$6
Distributor=$200+
I'd try the cheaper thing FIRST

Also if its a distributor trouble there should be a CEL for multiple misfires

I'd say check your EGR valve! Had the same problem couple years ago, had to replace EGR valve. CEL was random multiple misfire

I want to know how you changed the distributor since Avengers don't have one [they have a coil pack]. Go to the junkyard, find a good looking throttle body with all the sensors intact. Swap the entire throttle body over. If the problem goes way it was one of those sensors. Most likely the TPS [throttle position sensor] You might have other problems buta good mechanic should be able to find this problem out for you.

He didn't say which engine he has. I guess I assumed he had the 420A like I do.

FINALLY! After a year of sitting dead in the garage, I got the problem fixed. It was the EGR valve and a lower intake leak that was causing the problem. Thanks for all your help, I sure hope I dont have to post another help topic anytime soon. Thanks again.
