I had a noise like a wheel bearing around the drivers front. I pulled the wheel off, rotated the axle. The noise is comming from the point of where the axle goes into the transmission. I'm thinking there is a bearing at the transmission. It looks like it might just be bolted in there. The noise is a grinding and sounds like tin metal is slapping around too. Pretty bad noise.

So what I'm asking is there a clear cut problem? Axle or bearing in the transmission.

I'd pull the axle theres a cv joint on both ends and hope it's the axle ... the tranny might be a really expensive fix
