hello,
My 96 avenger 2.0 liter 4 cylinder been stalling out while idle. its ok if i give it a little gas.
temperature doesnt seem to matter. runs fine when sitting at 1000 rpms + but as soon as it dips it drops to 0 rmp and shuts off. i have to keep tapping the accelerator or it dies
So far ive changed the air filter and cleaned the fuel injectiors and currently have some dry gas in the tank.

Any suggestions as to what to check next?

I'm kinda curious about that too. Lately mine idles rough when I come to a stop. Mine usually idles around 750rpm. I know I really need to change my plugs and wires because that hasn't been done since I bought the car. I'm thinking that is my problem. Could possibly be yours too, not sure. Mines the DOHC v6. Let me know if you find something out.

 

mine use to stall on me some and i ended up replacing O 2 sensors

 

could be a vacuum leak, try spraying carb cleaner around the vacuum lines and air plentum

 

Plugs, wires, possibly an iac.

 

any problems starting back up after the stall?

 

My car did the same thing, i can almost gurantee its the IAC, try cleaning you iac or if that doesnt work, which in my case is didnt, look on ebay for a used one...i got one for 20 bucks and it fixed that problem...

 

I had the same problem on my 95 4 cyl. I canged the spark plugs and it worked fine . after a while the problem came back so i changed the wireset and my car is fine now
