Default Plugs

Hey,

Im looking for someone who can give me detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to replace the spark plugs for a 96 v6 venge. Pictures would be awesome too. Also, is it a good idea to replace the plug wires too? if so, how.

Venge96, my suggestion to you would be to get a Haynes manual. It is a vital tool and is fairly inexpensive. Although you didn't want to hear that, that will probably be the most sound piece of info you can get.

Changing the plugs is fairly "easy". Of course that depends on your level of mechanical inclination. Yes, it is a good idea to replace the wires along with the plugs.

The general breakdown is to remove the intake tract, unplug the sensors and vacuum hoses from the plenum, unbolt the plenum, remove it while making sure the metal gasket is not damaged in anyway because it is reusable. Finally, remove and change your plugs and wires. Be sure to stuff some towels down the intake manifold...that's keeping the chamber safe and clean 101. Go backwards from there and you're golden.
Note: Do not over tighten the plenum bolts and start from the middle and work your way out!

Some note, don't ding the new plug's gap while installing them. Most of them are pre-gapped, but it never hurts to check. If you're new to working on cars (your post suggests that you are), remove the plug wires and plugs one at a time, installing the new set before moving on to the next. Be sure to have all the tools necessary before starting. Plugs and wires are easy, but if you get sidetracked, you may forget something or rush the work. Take your time and do it right the first time. OEM wires and plugs are fine, don't get fancy as you will just be wasting your money.
Another good thing to do is to check the distributors cap and rotor for any cracks and burs on the posts. While you're at the parts store get a new PCV and oil/filter if they haven't ready been changed. If you're in doubt, do it anyway.

Make sure, I repeat, make sure all the sensors are plugged back in and the vacuum lines are put back where they came from. Get the Haynes or Chilton's manual...I prefer the Haynes over the Chilton's, but that's just me.
