no, i have not. i went by autozone today and they didn't have the rotor in stock, but the cap they have is $40 bucks. I didn't feel like spending the money just yet because i knew i needed to change my fuel filter anyways.

is there a way to inspect/test the cap and see if it needs replacing? i have blindly buying parts and hoping that they'll work and fix an issue.

thanks for the reply

You can look at the contacts on the cap and the contact on the rotor to check for abnormal wear. Isn't there a resistance check for the cap in one of the manuals too? How old are the o2 sensors? What octane gas do you use and do you use cheap gas?
Did you get to the rear plugs and wires? Do you change the PCV at every oil change? Have you ever cleaned your intake tract with Seafoam before? Do you have a RAM intake? Ok, I can't think of anymore that the other guys haven't already asked right now, lol. I don't feel like calling out the CPS since I blame that thing for everything it seems. lol
What was done to the tranny? A rebuild for limp mode? It sounded like you had the tranny rebuilt somewhat recently. What did the mechanics say the problem was?

turned out the high-rpm popping was being caused by my egr valve. that particular issue has stopped, but my engine tone is different. this happened yesterday, and today i threw a cel. i ran up to autozone and they pulled the code and said it was the egr valve.

i don't feel like spending $100 or so for a replacement egr valve...what reprocussions would i face if i did not replace or buy a plate and block off the egr valve all together?

oh no... this discussion could go on forever... a lot of people say it is fine to block off the egr, it will run cleaner, non recycled gas, and so on. others will say you will have engine ping. just pull your egr off and look at it, it could be clogged, i would say just try cleaning it... i do know of many people who have blocked their egr off and it is perfectly fine.
