Default Head gasket leak

I have an oil leak. It looks like it is coming from the head gasket and the guys at the local Dodge garrage said it is common for those engines [no water leak] Is there anyone who knows of a web site or guide to changing the head gasket? I would like to try it myself but I have never done one before.

Default RE: Head gasket leak

I have an Avenger, and I had to have the head gasket replaced about 2 weeks ago. It was leaking oil down the back of engine and the wind blew it where it almost covered the entire under carriage. But anyway. Mine has the 2.0 4 cylinder engine, and there was no way i was gonna try to take the top of the engine off to change the head gasket myself. But that was only cuz i dont have the time too. It just looked like it would be one of those things that would turn into a headache. I had to put it in a local shop to have the work done, it cost me $450. I would have rathered pay that much to a mechanic, than risk ****ing something up doing it myself, lol.I know this doesnt help you at all with your question, but thought it might be something you may want to know since youve never replaced the head gasket before.
