Oil Pressure Problems
Hey guys.
The oil pressure in my 1995 ES goes way up as I accelerate. By the time I'm at 60mph my gauge is almost near the top mark. When the car is idle the pressure is below the bottom mark.
This morning I changed the oil again. It still drops below the bottom line in idle but not as much. But it still goes way up once I'm going at over 45mph. This started to happen after my last oil change and I had accidentally overfilled it so I'm guessing it may have had something to do with that. I ran it like that for about three weeks.
Another poster said this car "doesnt like" anything else other than 5w30...I'm currently using 15w50 as the car has 150k miles, and weather in Miami is hot, even during winter time.
Any suggestions?

When you changed your oil did you change your oil filter as well?
My Owners manual says from -10 degrees fahrenheit and up 10w-30 and from 100 degrees fahrenheit down use 5w-30 on the 2.0L
The 2.5L says for 0 degrees fahrenheit and up use 10w-30 and from 100 degrees fahrenheit 5w-30 is preferred.

Yes, it does say that. I'm gonna change the oil again and go with the 10w30. Someone else suggested that the low pressure, when it's idle, should not be too bad as long as the light doesn't come on but that the high pressure may put too much stress on the seals.
So I'm gonna go ahead and change the oil type...but I still have doubts about weather or not the oil pump may be working properly as when I turn on the car and the engine is hot the oil pressure takes significantly more time to go up as possessed to when the engine is cold. When it's cold the pressure will go up faster and actually retain more normal levels during acceleration. Though I suppose that could be the viscosity of the oil being different because of the engine temperature.
I had changed the oil filter the first time around. When I changed the oil the second time, since I had changed it about three weeks prior to that, I didn't change it again.

Another thing I've noticed is an inacuracy with the stock oil pressure gauge ... I'd install a mechanical and see if it matches the stock cluster...
There are two on the V6 one for the gauge and the other for th idiot light
