Default My 1995 Dodge Avenger Is Not Starting And It Always Needs A Jump!

First off i would like to say hello to everyone here in the DodgeForum,

I have a 1995 dodge avenger and i had a problem with it this summer. Everything was fine with the car, it was running very well and one day i cut the car off to go into the house of course and when i came back out to try and start the car up it would not start at all. I had to get a boost and after the boost i drove the car onto the expressway and it felt like it was jumping, kind of hesitating like it wanted to shut off! I went back home to park the car, i went on vacation for around 5 to 6 days, came back home and the car would not start at all. Nothing worked like last time so i had to get a boost all over again then it worked however the car started jumping again! I still drove the car everyday and it was fine, it just jumped all of the time. I parked the car one morning after work and it stopped working again like everything died. This is the 3rd time, i took the car to a mechanic and got a rebuilt transmission and new water pump. Got the car back and the car is still jumping! I am guessing that the transmission was not really a problem after all however the mechanic said that it would be best for me to get it rebuilt and that is what i did. Now, i know for sure that i needed a new water pump badly and i got that done as well. I am just trying to find out this problem now that is going on with the car. If anyone knows what i am talking about please let me know what is going on. I already put alot of money into this car and its making me feel bad lol.

Thank you.

having to jump start the car consistantly is usually a sign of a bad battery or alternator ...
Take the car to advanced/autozone in your area and have them test the batteryand the alternator

Ok, i just had the car towed to the nearest dodge dealership as i figured that would be the best way to go about this problem. Hopefully everything is good from here on out. Since it is now at the dodge dealership i have to find out what type of recalls are on the car.

I was having a problem with my Venger not starting just before I traded it for my 06 Charger. I had two problems. The battery shorted internally. It was replace under warranty from the manufacturer. I also needed new battery terminals and new cables. As far as the car jumping? I would swap the throtle body with a unit from a local salvage yard [do not change individual sensors, just th entire throttle body...it is easier that way] just to make sure you do not have something wrong with the TPS, or ICM. While you are at it change the spark plugs and wires if you haven't done it in a while just to rule out a isfire [the scan at autozone should tell you what is wrong if you have a check engine light] You actually had the tranny rebuilt when it didn't need it? I would be kicking some mechanics tail over that one. Expensive lesson to learn.

^It was some more things going on with the car, i didnt think it was the transmission at all before but it was. Its just frustrating when you put alot of money into a car then more problems come about afterwards. Im just learning as i go though, its definitely a lesson learned as i probably should have put that money on a new car as a down payment. Also, how much money did the dealership consider your trade in to be for your 06 charger? I might end up doing a trade in next year maybe with my other car.
